Louisiana can do better on teacher pay

Every Louisiana child deserves a high-quality education, and that can only happen if our public schools are staffed by talented, dedicated, and well-compensated teachers. But Louisiana continues to lag far behind our regional and national peers in teacher pay. A long-overdue pay raise?

It’s been rumored for months, but late last week it became official: Gov. John Bel Edwards plans to seek a $1,000 per year salary increase for public school teachers next year, with lower raises for school support workers.
