China’s tariffs strike Louisiana

The economy in Southwest Louisiana is booming due to the massive industrial construction projects. The vast majority of these projects are connected to plants built to export liquid natural gas (LNG). Investors in these facilities planned to do business with China, but President Donald Trump’s tariffs have put all of that in jeopardy.

Governor optimistic about state’s future

Gov. John Bel Edwards paid a visit to The Advocate’s editorial board last week, and said he remains optimistic about Louisiana’s trajectory despite the Legislature’s failure to address the state’s chronic structural budget shortfalls.
