A partial solution is not good enough

The end of the second special session of 2018 is less than a week away, and the only major revenue bill to advance to the Senate is House Bill 27, by Rep. Lance Harris.

The ripple effects of closing hospitals

Medical school leaders urge budget delay

Chancellors from LSU’s two medical schools pleaded with lawmakers on Tuesday to hold off on passing a 2019 state budget until the Legislature has another opportunity to consider additional revenue measures in a second special session.

Budget gimmicks will not solve revenue problem

Using one-time money to pay for long term, ongoing expenses is not a sustainable way to run a household, let alone a state budget. But that’s exactly what House GOP leader Lance Harris is proposing as a fix for Louisiana’s fiscal cliff.
