A real revenue solution emerges in Senate

After a nearly two-year wait, members of the Louisiana Senate finally had an opportunity to weigh in on tax legislation that would address the state’s fiscal cliff on Wednesday evening.

Special session on life support

The special legislative session is teetering on the brink of collapse after a crucial sales tax bill favored by Republicans was shot down Wednesday night, with only 38 of 105 House members voting for it (it needed 70 votes to pass).

The Ways to be Mean Committee

The House Ways and Means Committee spent several hours Tuesday hearing testimony on various tax bills, yet no clear path emerged on how lawmakers will replace some of the $1.4 billion in revenues that expire on June 30.
