CATerwauling on tax reform

Gov. John Bel Edwards released his tax plan on Wednesday, which is aimed at replacing $1.4 billion in revenue that falls off the books in 2018 while making Louisiana’s revenue structure more fair and predictable.

A “grand slam” tax plan

Louisiana residents pay the nation’s highest sales tax. Income taxes collections are among the lowest in the country, thanks mainly to some massive deductions that don’t exist in most other states.

What happened to tax reform?

Gov. John Bel Edwards is scheduled to reveal his tax reform recommendations this afternoon at the Capitol (LBP will be writing separately about this).

Edwards delays tax plan

Gov. John Bel Edwards was scheduled to release the details of his plan to overhaul Louisiana’s broken tax structure in a speech to the Press Club of Baton Rouge this afternoon.
