Spending cap changes would wreak havoc on budget

One of the few bills that advanced out of committee this week is a dangerous proposal from House Speaker Taylor Barras to change the formula that governs the state spending cap.

The Ways to be Mean Committee

The House Ways and Means Committee spent several hours Tuesday hearing testimony on various tax bills, yet no clear path emerged on how lawmakers will replace some of the $1.4 billion in revenues that expire on June 30.

States must lead on infrastructure

While Congress is under pressure to produce a comprehensive infrastructure bill - one of the few ideas that could gain bipartisan support on Capitol Hill - actions at the state level are far more likely to impact the roads and bridges people use every day.
