Health care fits and starts

While President Donald Trump’s administration pursues one administrative action that would make it harder for some people to access Medicaid along with another that would threaten essential health benefits, people around the country are voicing support for the Affordable Care Act.

Criminal justice reforms underway

About 1,900 people who were imprisoned in Louisiana for nonviolent offenses are being released early today, due to the landmark criminal justice reforms enacted by the Legislature.

$262 million - Amount the state expects to save over the next decade due to the 2017 criminal justice reform package. Hospitality workers unite

New Orleans’s hospitality workers are the engine of the city’s tourism-based economy. Unfortunately, many of those workers don’t earn enough to maintain a decent standard of living, and 500 employees of the Hilton Riverside recently decided to do something about it.
