Mental health oversight needed

Nearly 90 percent of Louisiana’s Medicaid recipients - almost 1.5 million people - have their health care services managed by one of five managed-care insurance companies whose contracts are up for renewal by the state Legislature.

The latest on tax reform

The Legislature has completed its second full week of work, and no progress has been made on fixing either the $440 million shortfall for the coming fiscal year or the nearly $1.4 billion “fiscal cliff” the state is facing when temporary taxes expire in June of 2018.

Oct. 25: Governor amends ITEP order

Industrial projects that were approved for initial five-year property tax breaks prior to June 24 will be grandfathered in under the old rules when they come up for a five-year renewal, Gov. Edwards has decided.
