BATON ROUGE – A new report from the Louisiana Budget Project outlines the highlights and lowlights of the 2019 Legislature, including key issues and bills that LBP focused on during the two-month session. The report, A Return to Normalcy, focuses on key areas related to tax and budget, education, economic opportunity and the protection of basic necessities.

“It’s been a long time since the Legislature wasn’t facing a serious fiscal crisis and was able to focus on what to fund as opposed to what to cut,” said Jan Moller, Executive Director for the Louisiana Budget Project. “While lawmakers were able to make new investments in things like public education and infrastructure, they dropped the ball when it came to increasing the minimum wage and establishing a statewide paid leave policy. All in all, the session was a mixed bag and our report explains that.”
